Whatever you think about them, some people definitely want to get rid of them, and would give a million dollars for a solution. Thankfully, you won’t need quite that much money, however!
Products have been coming out for years that have been said to reduce the appearance of stretch marks, and Trilastin is one of the most popular to come out in the last few years. It was even featured on Tyra Banks show!!
It can be hard to stand out from the pack, but this product has done just that – but is it all worth it? We decided to do some research on the product and our own testing to see if it really worked, or if it was just a lot of hot air.

What are stretch marks?
Stretch marks are tiny little tears or openings in the skin that are caused when a certain part of your body grows too quickly for collagen to keep up. It is actually the “binding” of your skin that is tearing – but you don’t really feel it.
People see stretch marks when they gain weight, get pregnant, or build up muscles in their bodies. It also isn’t uncommon to see stretch marks during puberty.
There are many other stretch mark oils or creams out there ( check my review of Bio oil) but nothing seemed to be working really well, so we at myawesomebeauty.com jumped on the occasion when we found out about Trilastin.
What is Trilastin SR?
This is a stretch mark cream that has recently got some attention from the beauty industry with their impressive results and before and after pictures of users. ( keep in mind it has even been enhanced and improved from the original version, that is why it is called maximum strength)
It combines powerful ingredients to fight and reduce all types of stretch marks, whether fresh (pale, white, silver) or old ones (pink or purple).
Both women and men of all ages can also use this cream. (haha we are not alone in this battle !!)
It is effective on all skin types and colors, so if you have dark skin, you don’t need to be afraid, you won’t have any bleaching issues.
So is it a miracle cream for those of us who don’t really look like supermodels, or is it a hoax?
Those who have used the product say that it works quickly and efficiently to reduce the appearance of stretch marks, and some even say that it helps to even out the texture of the skin. All of that is as little as 3-4 weeks!

How does it work?
It works by giving elastin back to the skin and helping the skin form the collagen that it needs to make the upper-most layer of your skin more elastic, much stronger and less translucent, which as a result makes the marks less visible and improve the smoothness and suppleness of the skin, while reducing the depth, color and length of the existing stretch marks. Yippee!!
To reach that goal, they combined an impressive array of ingredients that all have powerful specific actions but the bright idea was to use a clever delivery system that creates a protective kind of skin patch (they call it SDDS for sequenced diffusion delivery system) that helps to keep your skin hydrated and also provides a sequenced release of actives to the skin.
So basically, imagine the actives encapsulated in some kind of microspheres that will release the actives over a longer period of time….
Trilastin SR ingredients
Thankfully, the company has been pretty open about just what is in their products, which we do appreciate. That shows they are confident about their product…not like some websites that refuse to indicate the ingredient list…. you know some, don’t you?
So they have a full list on their website:
Water (aqua), cetearyl alcohol, butylene glycol, glycerin, ppg-3 benzyl ether myristate, behenyl alcohol, caprylic/capric triglyceride, ethylhexyl palmitate, glyceryl stearate, cyclopentasiloxane, octyldodecanol, cyclohexasiloxane, polyglyceryl-3 methylglucose, distearate, retinyl palmitate, tocopheryl acetate, chlorella vulgaris extract, serenoa, serrulata fruit extract, hydrolized soy protein, zea mays (corn) kernel extract, hydrolyzed caesalpinia spinosa gum, caesalpinia spinosa gum, calcium pantothenate, maltodextrin, niacinamide, pyridoxine hcl, silica, sodium ascorbyl phosphate, sodium starch octenylsuccinate, bht, beeswax, tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate, polyacrylamide, disodium ethylene dicocamide peg-15 disulfate, glyceryl stearate citrate, polymethyl methacrylate, dimethicone, c13-14 isoparaffin, pentylene glycol, laureth-7, alcohol, disodium edta, xanthan gum, caprylyl glycol, chlorphenesin, phenoxyethanol
Confused? Yeah – most people who don’t have a chemistry degree would be. Actually, we can tell you they used a nice combo of actives such as:
Zea Mays (Corn) Kernel Extract: A corn extract that stimulates the production of fibronectin, a vital fiber protein in the dermis structure
BeauPlex™ VH: A powerful multi-vitamin complex
Hydromanil™ H.GL: A unique 3D matrix delivery system for the sequential release of moisturizing actives to the skin.
D-Stria™: Helps improve firmness, elasticity, suppleness, and reduces the surface appearance and color of stretch marks.
BVOSCTM : An oil soluble Vitamin C ester which boosts the collagen production
Chlorella Vulgaris Extract: an algae extract that brings essential amino acids for the formation of proteins.
And many more actives you can read about on the official website.
Our Trilastin review
We required 2 users (2 women – cathia and virginie) to test this cream over a period of 6 weeks. Both testers had new (pink/purple) and old stretch marks (white, pale) so it was perfect to check the overall effectiveness of it. For once, I did not test anything… no stretch mark for the moment, we ‘ll talk about it after my first child 🙂
As a side note:
The company launched a new product called Trilastin HT (hydro-thermal) Accelerator that has been formulated specifically to work with TrilastinSR and yield maximum results.
You have to apply this product before trilastinSR.
The accelerator actually provides a warming effect that stimulates the applied zone and opens the pores: trilastinSR can better penetrate the skin as a result.
Unfortunately, we could not give our 2 users this additional product, so we end up with cathia testing only trilastin SR and Virginie testing trilastinSR in association with the HT accelerator.
So both were required to apply the product twice a day (morning and evening), only virginie had to apply twice a day the accelerator product, wait one minute then apply trilastinSR.
So what did they think of the texture and scent?
Both users found the cream very pleasant to apply, and non greasy, which is usually the case with oils or certain stretch mark reduction products. It is also unscented so you won’t have any issues if you are sensitive to scents in general. They also noted that it does not stain clothes, so they were able to dress up pretty quickly after the application.
What about the results?
The results were very interesting.
Cathia noticed a huge improvement on her new stretch marks, she told us they were less visible after 4 weeks, which was pretty awesome for her because she had tested Bio Oil for 4 weeks as well, and did not find it effective enough.
However, compared to the results on new stretch marks, she only noticed a very light fading of the older stretch marks, they did not improve much after 6 weeks. She was a bit disappointed….Of course she knew, she would need probably many months to improve the older ones.
Virginie (who used the accelerator) also noticed a big improvement on her pink stretch marks after 3 weeks, so it was a tad quicker for her than for cathia, but she also told us some pink stretch marks were a little resistant and only improved after 5 weeks.
As for the older white marks, she was more thrilled than cathia, and reported a noticeable improvement with some marks being way less visible and some who did not fade at all….
So all in all, This product seems to be effective on new stretch marks in both cases but was less effective on old ones. However, to be fair, we only tested it for 6 weeks and we know old stretch marks usually need several months to improve.
We also wonder if the HT accelerator is the reason why virginie had better results with the old stretch marks; it would make sense as the accelerator increases the penetration of TrilastinSR.
However, is it really worth it? We think you could probably get the same warming effect with a good hot shower to open the pores right before applying the stretch mark cream . ( As a side note, cathia did not think of of the hot shower thing…)
If you decide to purchase the accelerator though:
- Please note our tester had to wait more than 1 minute to feel the warming effect (between 4-5 minutes).
- You could also probably make the accelerator product last longer if you use the stretch cream alone in the morning right after your shower and after the accelerator aplication before sleeping. So you end up using the accelerator once a day, so you make it last twice longer…
Regarding the formulation, our favorite cosmetologist found the formula interesting with effective actives, the product is paraben free which is noteworthy.
We were a bit disapppointed by the lack of real vegetable oils or butters with better moisturizing properties but we were told the company probably wanted to make this cream as light and as non greasy as possible, which is why they mainly used light refined oils such as caprylic/capric triglyceride, ppg-3 benzyl ether myristate known for their very light feel.
Silicones and beeswax would also increase the patch effect by setting up a barrier to keep the skin well hydrated and avoid any water loss. Yet, we would have preferred a more natural base and another antioxydant, which is certainly possible…
The other drawback is probably the price, even for 6oz/177 mL, $79 it is a bit expensive. ( Fortunately the company offers a reliable 90-day money back guarantee.)
How Long Will It Take To See a Reduction in My Stretch Marks?
The official website claims you can see some results after 3-4 weeks, with less visible stretch marks and tighter skin. however from our results, 5-6 weeks would be more realistic…
Here are a few Trilastin before and after pictures, from the official website, after 4 weeks :
And other results after 4 months :
Does it work on old stretch marks?
This cream will definitely work on new pink/purple strect marks quickly but will probably need much more time to improve the older ones (white/silver), our test was conducted only during 5 weeks; we will keep you updated on our results.
In the meantime, go check the results of many users on the official website with old marks.
Will it work for you?
While there is no guarantee that any product will work as well for one person as it does for another person, here are some other trilastin reviews:
“I used two tubes of this fantastic product on my thirty year old, purple, ugly stretch marks. After the first tube they lightened to a pink-ish red and were a lot less transparent. After the second tube, they were a lighter pink color and the indentations from the marks seemed to fill in considerably. Can’t wait to get started on my third tube! This product did something that no other product I’ve used on my stretch marks ever did- IT ACTUALLY WORKED! Considering I’m fifty-four years old, I think this is pretty amazing! I would highly recommend it!” – Jackie
“I’m a 23-year-old female in the second week of using this product and I can honestly say, this stuff is working. I have white stretch marks on my butt and inner thighs, and very light ones on my breasts. I got them from rapid weight loss and weight gain (freshman 20 and losing those 20lbs in one month). I’ve tried everything from coco butter to mederma to keratase. While these products at best smoothed my skin, Trilasti has lightened the appearance of the marks in addition to smoothing my skin- and it’s only been 2 weeks! I apply the cream liberally 1-2 times daily after I shower. I feel more confident about my skin, especially in certain lights where I can barely see the marks. I’m so excited to see my results in the coming weeks.” – Monica
What CAN’T this product do?
Of course we live in an imperfect world, so there are some things you cannot do with this product. You won’t be able to get rid of deep scarring that would require laser treatment…
You also won’t see results overnight – so make sure you keep trying and applying it as part of your daily routine!
Our verdict
We all know that this world isn’t perfect and there is no such thing as a miracle cure to get rid of your scarring that may need laser therapy.
However, This stretch mark cream is definitely a pretty effective weapon against stretch marks, new ones to be exact, because we did not have enough time to test it for a longer period on older ones but from the early results, it could potentially improve them as well with time, maybe not 100% but to a certain extent.
That would probably require 3 months minimum, which is great because the offcial website offers a 90 day money back guarantee….
Where to buy it to get the best deal?
If you consider buying it, we suggest you buy it online from the official website here but avoid amazon.com, because amazon prices may be better from time to time but for this product, they don’t offer any refund if you are not satisfied. You can check the prices on amazon here
The official company offers a sweet 90 day money back guarantee that enables you to try it risk free for 90 days, it is like having the cake et eat it too 🙂 – remember to apply the product after opening the pores either with a hot shower (what we recommend as the most cost effective solution) or the HT accelerator.
