Before giving you my dermefface Fx7 review, let me remind you that if you read my other scar removal cream review here, you know I have a chin scar and some arm scars. I was offered by sophie to be part of her team of reviewers and to test some scar creams.
I tested 3 of them, and here is my review of the 2nd product (made by Skinception company). It was not easy testing several products at the same time, as I had to attribute some scars to the product 1, some to the product 2 and some to the product 3.
I clearly did not have enough, so I had to be smart and divide some scars in 2 and keep one scar for one product…. I hope my results will help you with your own scars.
Yep, scars aren’t just something that makes us look a little less radiant: they can ruin our lives. Scars make us feel badly about ourselves and embarrass us at best, and at worst can keep us locked up in our houses, afraid to go outside due to what someone will say or do.
If you are one of those people, you need something that will allow you to step out of the shadows and into the light of society.
The skinception dermefface fx7 scar reduction therapy ( yeah this is what some people call it to give a more serious appeal…) obviously got our attention with those ads that claim it could really work wonders on scars. We wanted to give it a try. We will tell you if it was really that magic and if it can help reduce the look and feeling of your scar.
Dermefface Fx7 Review: How to use it ?
Many people have claimed that Dermefface Fx7 has done incredible things to remove some of their scarring. One of their most famous fans is Lisa D’Amato, who you may remember from America’s Next Top Model. She was in a pretty severe car accident, and the formula helped her to reduce her scars.
You have to use the gel twice a day for at least four weeks (minimum). They claim you will start to see some results. The secret lies in the multiple moisturizing ingredients and antioxidants.
What can I use Dermefface Fx7 on?
After checking the official website, and looking at testimonials, it looks like it can be used in solving scarring issues from injuries, burns acne, stitches, chicken pox and surgery. But it sounds maybe too good to be true and a little too marketing oriented…
What are the ingredients?
The gel itself contains 10 antioxidants, 7 proven active ingredients, and 5 moisturizers, in a perfect blend to reduce your scar and get you back to feeling like yourself.
Thankfully, the makers of Dermefface Fx7 have been pretty open about their ingredients:
Pentavitin: a natural element found in plants, this is one of the main components of the moisturizer that will help to heal scars. It works naturally with your skin’s keratin, which is what keeps your skin soft.
Symglucan: an ingredient that will focus on the wrinkles and deep lines that make your scar, healing them quickly and giving your skin a more even appearance.
Pro-Coll-One: this special ingredient actually helps your skin’s collagen rebuild and look like it used to look, eliminating some of that color.
Di-Panthenol: some other creams will call it Pro Vitamin B5, but Dermefface makers aren’t going to simplify this special ingredient that helps your skin regrow and come back smooth. It naturally stops your inflammation. ( that was used in mederma scar gel)
Vitalayer: this ingredient comes from Vervain and is extremely rich in peptides, which means that it will reduce your scar and help to keep your skin moisturized.
Niacinamide: if you have hyperpigmentation around your scar or even in your scar itself, this ingredient will work to lighten and eliminate the marking.
Hydrolite 5: an additional moisturizer that acts to amp up the rest of the ingredients.
Allantoin: treats the dry and damaged skin so that it can heal quickly and at an even rate. ( also found in mederma scar gel)
Dermefface Fxc7 also contains other ingredients that help to make it a cream and help the functionality, including: beta-glucan (anti-wrinkle), acai extract (lessens fine lines and wrinkles), hydrolyzed soybean fiber (enhances collagen production).
Ok, enough with the marketing claims of this product, you want to know what we think of it….
Our brutal review after 6 weeks
Ok I used this gel for 6 weeks twice a day, as was recommended and I did not really find any noticeable improvement on my scar. I only used it on one scar, half a scar to be precise LOL (hey had to save another one for another product)…. The scar has faded very lightly around the borders and I found that my skin was smoother and far less dry though, which is better than nothing.
This very light gel is super fast to penetrate and does not feel sticky after a a few seconds… I find it a bit too watery though and there was no very specific smell…
Here is the product INCI list
Ingredients: Water (Aqua), Glycerin, Beta-Glucan, Pentylene Glycol, Dl-Panthenol, Saccharide Isomerate, Verbena Officinalis Extract, Hydrolyzed Soybean Fiber, Niacinamide, Allantoin, Vaccinium Myrtillus (Bilberry) Fruit Extract, Euterpe Oleacea Fruit Extract, Lycium Barbarum (Goji) Extract, Aristotelia Chilensisui Fruit Extract, Aronia Arbutifolia/Aronia Melanocarpa (Chokeberry) Fruit Extract, Garcinia Mangostana Fruit Extract, Punica Granatum Fruit Extract, Morinda Citrifolia Fruit Extract, Disodium EDTA, Hydroxyethyl Cellulose, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin
Frankly, I was disappointed because of all the products this one seemed the most effective with all the hype and the list of ingredients.
But as our cosmetologist friend told us, you can add an awesome list of ingredients, but even though they are all present, what is their real percentage? According to him, the gel is not very stuited for scars, which would explain the lack of noticeable results after 6 weeks. Worse, some ingredients could be potentially too irritant for scars with newly formed skin ( still too fragile).
I was of course fully aware I was not going to get some drastic change after 6 weeks, but was hoping to get something more positive I could report…. It also seems that other users did not get positive results with it.
The good point is the fact the gel is paraben free, they used instead a safer preservative alternative.
Here again, the list of actives is really interesting but I would be curious to know the percentage of each active, our friend gave us some estimates but that would mean we are literally buying some water gel with traces of actives.
We really wanted to believe in it but it is not the magic wand that we were hoping for.
Besides, the price is a bit too high for what it is: $ 55 for only 0.5 oz (15 mL). This is not a price I would be willing to pay for such a product….
The thing is the best products to treat scars are silicone based according to a group of 24 experts ( doctors and plastic surgeons). Check our article about the best scar creams HERE.
What is our verdict?
If you need a cure for your scars, here at myawesomebeauty.com, we think that Dermefface Fx7 is not really the magic product we were hoping for, especially if we consider my results. The list of actives is certainly impressive and they probably did use all these actives but we wonder what the real amount of each active is as we have serious doubts about the concentration of each. In our opinion, they are far too low.
However, there are some reviews and testimonials here out there, which claim it has kinda changed their life… We wonder if they are fake…. Anyway, let’s consider them as guenuine.
Even if the price is a turn off for sure with only 0.5 oz, the good thing is that the official website offers a 100 % money back guarantee that would be interesting for those who want to try it risk free. To be fair, we did not use it for 3-4 months but for only 6 weeks. (1 month and half)
Yeah, I know that I like to test stuff myself especially when it can be free 🙂 as we are all different and I hope I was the only one who did not get those awesome results seen on the official pics.
