Ok, let’s get back to facial steaming lol. We know steaming is really beneficial to our skin. But all the fuss with heating some water, then pouring it in a bowl etc… makes it harder to take action… I am lazy…. And want things to be simple and easy haha. Sounds familiar?
Current facial steamers are so convenient now. You just pour some water in the water reservoir, you turn the machine on and wait a few minutes and voilà the steam is there to enjoy.
But there are so many steam devices that it is not easy to pick the best one for you.

What is it?
This face steamer is a machine that produces hot steam from water stored in an in-built reservoir. You can use this steam to open up your pores, increase blood circulation, detox your skin and help with congested sinuses or colds.
How does it work?
As most facial steamers, this machine has 2 elements: a heating element and an ultrasonic vaporizer to create nano-sized water particles.
In other words, the water is simply drawn from the water tank to be vaporised and heated up to get that hot steam and ultra-fine mist around.

My OLAXER 4-in-1 Facial Steamer Review
First impression
When I first saw this face steamer, I immediately liked the design. It has an upscale and chic look that make it stand out on your desk. I still prefer squarish devices but I do think this model has a nice look. It also feels very robust and solid unlike those super cheap steamers with see through plastic. It is not too big so it won’t take too much space.
Capacity /volume
The OLAXER 4-in-1 Facial Steamer has the second biggest water tank in our top 3 face steamers. If you read our buying guide here, you know we need at least 90-100 ml capacity to get enough steam for our face sauna. Here with this device, we have a large 180ml water tank that can give us about 20 minutes of hot steam.
This capacity is perfect to avoid any refill and makes this machine a good room humidifier as well. If the water tank is too small, you won’t get enough steam so you would have to refill several times to get the same amount of steam. The bigger your room, the more steam you need.
Quality of steam: flow and “size” of steam
What about the steam? Well, most current machines use the same technology: a heating element with an ultra-sonic vaporizer to generate hot steam with negatively charged ionic particles that are said to be 10 times more effective in getting through the skin. Hard to check whether it is true or not, but the steam and mist feel a bit different from the regular steam from boiling water.It “feels” more hydrating. It probably comes from the ultrasonic vaporizer.
Is it consistent? It is more consistent after a few minutes. At first, when you switch on the device, the water needs to be heated up so you get some steam pretty quickly after 1-2 minutes but it is more consistent and uniform after a few more minutes.
When we checked the temperature at a distance of about 20 cm or 8 inches, we had about 36-40°C (100-104 F) which is within the ideal temperature range for face sauna.
Ozone function
The ozone function helps to sterilize the steam. This device does not have this function but as we told you in our guide here, we don’t think it is really that useful. Hot Steam is quite sterile at 100° C.
Speed of use
You won’t need to wait long to get hot steam as this machine is pretty quick. It takes about 1-2 minutes to start getting some steam and a little more to get a more consistent flow. This is very convenient if you are as impatient as me haha.
Noise
The OLAXER 4-in-1 Facial Steamer is pretty silent, and won’t bother those around you. You can use it day and night whenever you want without disturbing anyone.
Robustness
This machine is made of super hard plastic and is very robust. I dropped it once when I was in my bathroom but it did not break and still worked perfectly afterwards.
Automatic shut off
Another good point about this face steamer is that it turns off automatically once it runs out of water. So, it is perfectly safe. This automatic power off is also perfect if you use it as a room humidifier because you can let it run and can just forget about it.
Optional features
This device is a real 4 in one machine. It is a powerful face steamer but also :
- A powerful humidifier: the large water tank gives you about 20 minutes of steam which is enough for a room. With a smaller capacity steamer, you would have to refill the water reservoir several times.
- Compatible with essential oils. There is indeed a dedicated basket on top for essential oils. Simply add a few drops in this basket and voilà you get your aromatherapy session. Note that the brand claims you can also fill this basket with chopped fresh fruits but I did not test it, I prefer essential oils, it is more effective in my opinion. Of course as usual, you still cannot add essential oils in the water tank or you could damage the machine.
- This device can also generate mist at room temperature (about 70 minutes) from the water tank. This can be handy but it is the heat that really helps so even if it is a nice feature. I did not really use it many times. I really used this machine for facial steaming. For other people that might be more useful.
- There is an adjustable nozzle to choose your preferred spraying angle. This is handy but it can only be adjusted within 40 degrees, so you can only target either your chin or your forehead and everything in between. If you like to send the steam to your chest when you are cold, that won’t be easy. Ok Ok I am just picky here haha.
Warranty
It is a 1-Year Warranty. This is not a 2-year warranty as was the case with this machine but it is the standard warranty.
Pricing
This machine is in my opinion a very good deal. Its price is about $35. We are talking about a powerful steamer with a 180 ml water tank (compared to more expensive machines with only 80 ml of capacity like this one here ) that can also be used as a room humidifier and for aromatherapy sessions.
Results
I used this face steamer in combination with cleansing and exfoliation with a face scrub for 3 weeks. I have really noticed a big improvement to my skin with way fewer whiteheads or breakouts. My skin has really been much clearer and way more even and smoother than before. The downfall is that I cannot stop touching my face haha.

We really like this OLAXER 4-in-1 Facial Steamer which is very cost effective. It has a large water tank (180ml) whereas most other steamers only have 80-90ml capacity. It can be used as a room humidifier, is compatible with essential oils and can generate water mist only.
